Phoenix Fire Closer Brad Lidge has been traded to their cross division Rivals, the St. Paul Saints. Lidge’s contract demands were reportedly too much for Fire GM Rich McNeal and owner Shane MacMahon.
“We would have liked to have kept Brad in our bullpen, but as the season progressed, it was clear this was not in the cards. We wish Brad Lidge all the best in his future endeavors.” said Shane McMahon.
Lidge was sent to the Saints in exchange for 21 year old closer Wes Hardy. The Fire also sent $1,000,000 in the deal. Saints GM Ace Cooan was happy to acquire the fireball throwing closer at a reduced price for the final months leading up to a hopeful playoff run. Lidge currently has 20 saves in 41 games, and a 1.58 ERA.
